heya, i just saw your comments on a profile and a lid is a helmet, elbow pads arnt necesary but knee and shins are, a good pair is about £30 and i think you can get a good skater style helmet for about £30, best to start with the helmet

carrera xc velos 08 would be just fine for esher, you could do the blues on 80mm hartail if you wanted to!
