    Hi Andy
My Shova isn't the lightest bike on the planet mate. It could easily be built up as a 28 pounder but mine comes in at 31. Its mainly the pikes and the mavic 721s fault though. Going to sell my pikes and hopefully get a set of revelations. The 2009 frame is a bit lighter than the 2008 st too.
As I mentioned its every bit as good as an Orange 5, thats the only other single pivot bike I've been on. I've tried vpp and 4bar bikes but I like to know what the back end of the bike is doing and i found other platfroms felt dead in the back.

Hi mate, The shova will be a different beast to the stumpy for sure. I've really enjoyed my time riding it and haven't had any problems with it so far. As with all single pivots there is going to be a bit more feed back than with other suspension types but comming from a long time hardtail rider I find that a good thing. Bob is minimal on climbs and wont do your head in with pro pedal turned on. On the way down the shova uses its travel well with a smooth action which never leaves you doubting if the bike can handle what you're riding down. The travel feels like it goes on for ever. You get good feedback so you know exactly when the back end might be trying to drift out on you. There is a little brake jack but nothing massive. Having riden on orange 5 for a summer 2 years ago I'd say the shova is every bit as good and a little more interesting.
