You can position it near the rider and then take a photo (with the camera flash on) this triggers the slave so you get 2 light sources. (called fill in)

yeah, i'm always looking at kit trying to find great deals:)
i'm after a decent lense for a decent price but it's hard to find compatible lenses for olympus unlike the range you have with canon and nikon
