The Black Mountain Bike Route trails are narrow and difficult with varied surfaces. The main feature is its tight sweeping singletrack. This has developed through the years, which flows nicely and feels quite easy until you reach your limits, when your reactions can't keep up and you up bouncing off the trees.
There are two well-used large bombholes on the trail, which have several lines in and out, varying from rolling to vertical. The bombholes can provide a good 20 minute distraction from the rest of the loop.
