DH racing tyres what about these

im going racing and i want to use maxxis tyres do you think this is about all i need?


dry = F minion dhf 2.5 42a R high roller II 2.4 42a

wet= F swamp thing 2.5 42a R high roller II 2.4 42a

mud= F wet screem 2.5 42a R swamp thing 2.5 42a

the minion and high roller came on the bike so i have them already what do you think??

i just got a pair of maxxis Ardent 2.4 single ply to lighten up a bit an less rolling resistance, I'l see how that goes. anythings gotta be lighter than the intense tyres (DH and a 909) theyr'e replacing!

For mud don't bother with a Swampy, for racing a pair of Screams is much faster.

Most Maxxis riders I've seen at races ether use dries or spikes with they're 'Wet" tyre being a cut down spike.

What races are you thinking of doing?

+1 what bea5ty said. That's some good advice right there.
It's all personal though, so find what works. I just don't get on with highrollers, but like a minion dhf on front & rear. Some experimenting will be needed!
(or get some Spesh Hillbilly's & leave 'em on all year round! )

I quite fancy a set of Hillbillys, if they're anything like the Spech Storm spike they they should be good.

The Hillbilly is my fave tyre now man, it took over from dhf's.. I can't be arsed changing tyres much, & these things just HOOK up! (sorry for goin' off-topic Dude )

The NDH is a good series, most of my riding buddies do it and I go up with the camera. Alwinton is the 1at round and its super steep, it's fun but i'd recommend doing an uplift day there first. I've ridden it when Carl and the crew first built the new top section last year and it was challenging but its ridden in more now.

I use ether HighRollers or Minions depending on what I've got and for mud the screams go on.

Yeah, two minion dhf's on front & rear, both facing the regular way (forwards). I find they roll well & 'track' corners well too. Only feel sketchy when conditions get proper crappy. Hillbilly only comes in 2.3, but it fills out nicely. I've been leaving them on all the time lately.

ye im gunna miss the first couple of rounds because the bike only arrived last week and im not full kitted out yet i didnt want to turn up with nothing no spares tyres or all the gear
i cant wait to get on the racing scene now but al need L plates on for a little bit haha
