Paint |
|
Hi,
Bit of a random one this.....
Does anyone know of a spray paint that I can use to paint a large number of audio CD's without damaging the data on them? And where I can get it from?
My band has just recorded an EP and we are desperately trying to keep production costs down.

it would have to be an acrylic spray paint of sorts.
What i did was use the laserjet printers at work and bought in some cd labels, 2 to a sheet, designed the template in photoshop, designed templates for the inlay and jewel case inserts et voila, complete jewel case cover design for practically free

My first band used CD labels and printed on them Using spray paints yourself will be time-consuming and anyone who knows what they are looking at i.e. A&R executives, promoters etc will see what you've done. If you really want a certain look, pay to get it done professionally. At the end of the day though, it's the music that counts!

sometimes when you pay to get it "professionaly" done, you get a finish much like what i got with the laserjet labels etc, sometimes worse... but then again ive done it for my band and friends bands and designed their covers etc so i knows what im doings ^_^

I cant use the works computers or printers to do anything.
Because we work with credit cards, we can't put ANYTHING foreign onto our computers. It won't even read USB's or CD's you put into them.
I can't access my personal email and we don't have the software on the system to design anything.
As far as A&R people and record companies etc. frowning on our physical CD presentation... I don't think thats and issue, we're not at that stage yet. The EP is just for getting some local shows.
We got the recording session for nowt as my guitarist works at the studio.
We haven't got any money available to have stuff done proffesionally.
Acrylic based rattle can it is!
Thanks, gents.

just try it out on one and leave it overnight, if you come back to it and its a bubbling stinky toxic mess then its "probably" not going to work ... as for affecting the data... hmm not sure, have a google session about it maybes? or just buy blank white faced cd's, though thats more money if you already got the blanks in

I already got a shed load of blanks.
I think I'll record a disc of something on the laptop.... spray it and see how it plays. I had a brief google session and they say spraying is fine. But they reccomend spraying the discs before burning them, which I suppose makes sense. What do you think dude?
